We are here twice on our trip to Ocean City. The pizza was good - not great but good and the wings were also good- but again, not great. We sat at the bar the first night and the service was friendly. The second time we brought two others with us and sat at a table. The waitress had the personality of a grapefruit but her promptness wasn't too hateful. This place was just a half block from where we were staying so we are here twice out of convenience.

The pizza was amazing, antipasto was amazing as well. I try pizza every where I go and I'm from Chicago. 5 of 5 on the haywain pizza.

The best pizza in Ocean City. If you are a sausage lover, getting sausage crumbles on the pizza is soooo good! We always sit at the bar to watch Os games and get a few drinks too. The orange crushes are perfect too! The best is the late night happy hour when 11p-2a you can get cheap beer, rails and $2 slices. We go here pretty much every weekend and they never disappoint!

Awesome pizza and service. I liked how quick they were with our food. The pizza was really flavorful and the right thickness! They have a 2 piece special and the slices are massive! Their steak and cheese subs are really good too! Fresh ingredients, clean shop, fast service, and nice workers.

I don't like pizza, I know I'm crazy. But I really like the pizza here. I actually jones for it every now and then. It's clear Pomzetti's used fresh ingredients. The crust is prefect and interacts very well with the cheese Ana sauce. Do it! Forgot Grotto's or anything on the boards, go to Ponzetti's.

This is the best pizza on the beach. I grew up in Bethany so know it's sacrilege to speak against Grotto's, but Ponzetti's pizza is better. Better crust, better sauce, comparable cheese. Just better. Highly recommend the Barbeque chicken pie...one of the best I've had.

Best pizza we've had in OC, hands down. The sauce is delicious, and the pepperoni is awesome!

I been whating to go here for a long time. I came down in the month of November on a off season. After watching movie. I stop by to have an Italian resturant. Eggplant parmean with pasta. I got my meal the Eggplant was cut thin and over cooked. Pasta was cook and iris the posta with cold water. make the posta don't hold the spaghetti sauce. My brother posta was cooked meat and thron in with the sauce. Doctor Peper was off and I asked for a coffee and charge for both of them. I gone to the restroom and found that the door was off center. One of the Stall in the restroom door missing. Toilet was diry and it was little dark in the restroom. They was big on big screen TV. Also there was no ramp for wheel chair in front of the restront. I hear it was big on pizza and chicken wing. No I will don't come back again. What is was is no more.

To start we had the breadsticks, very good. It was flat, with good garlic/cheese seasoning and marinara sauce (asked for extra sauce). The marinara was on the sweeter side (see pizza sauce, below), however nonetheless delicious! Great, thin-crust, flame-baked pizza. The pizza sauce was sweeter than typical, however I appreciate their interpretation of a great-tasting pizza! Not too much cheese. I would recommend the pepperoni as a topping. The crust had a yummy char on it. I dipped my pizza crust in the extra marinara sauce we ordered earlier. The service was excellent; the waitresses were very friendly and personable. I'll be coming back, might try the sausage next time!

We stopped in on a whim and a serious pizza craving. So glad we found this place. The service was good, with one server able to take care of everyone in the dining room (it was 2:30 in the afternoon). The pizza was fresh and homemade. Try the eggplant fries, they are amazing!

Best pizza around. You know pizza is good when just plain cheese and sauce is superb. This describes ponzettis to a T.

  • Greg G.

Fantastic pizza - one of the best I have had outside of New York - sharp sauce and crust was perfect - wings were good too - nice classic old school pizza atmosphere

One star. A local recommend this place for pizza said it was the best around. The signage out front proclaimed fresh dough. Perhaps it was fresh once right before they shoved it in the freezer for days, weeks, months? The ponzettis pizza was kind of mehh overall. Frozen crust and the greasiness are what stand out a day later. They were open late and the service was fine.

Ponzetti's should stick to pizza. We used to eat there years ago and decided to revisit it recently. What a mistake! The dining room is dark, shabby and musty-smelling and the bathrooms dirty and in need of serious repair. The service was horrible and the food likewise. I ordered Eggplant Parm and when it arrived (after a very long wait) it looked terrible. Instead of the eggplant being in slices, it had been julienned and look like French fries. The sauce was cloyingly sweet and the pasta overcooked and not drained well. My grandson's meatballs could have been used for a game of paddle ball. It is sad when a place goes downhill but I will never patronize them again.

Ponzettis still doesn't disappoint with being one of the better pizzas on the beach. I know that to each his(or her) own when it comes to pizza, but if you don't want something super greasy and with a good crust, and a nice sweet sauce, then this is a good place. The prices aren't too outrageous. On par for most of the places in the area. We got a 17" with one topping and a 9" cheese as well as some bacon cheddar fries and the bill was under $35(we also just got water) that was plenty for a family of 5. It wasn't very busy when we went, which is surprising. Service was good, our server was very attentive.

Pleasantly surprised! We were headed to the movie theatre across the street from Ponzetti's....we tried Bull on the Beach and Nick's Ribs, but they were both packed so Ponzetti's was our last resort. We weren't expecting much...just another average pizza joint at the beach. The decor was dated, but fine for us & there are some arcade games for the kids. Our server took forever to show up and we were starting to regret our decision. However, when the pizzas came out they were fantastic!! We had a 12" cheese---great sweet tomato sauce and dotted with cheese, not thick and congealed like so many others. We also had a 12" with sausage, peppers & onions, which was delicious too. Loved the sausage & there was a perfect amount of toppings. Both pizzas were thin with just the right amount of char. I had a garden salad, which was ok. Typical iceberg lettuce, but it was a decent size for $4. I felt my husband's Caesar salad was a rip off though---smaller than mine & $5. Overall, for $40 we had 2 sodas, 2 salads & 2 12" pizzas and we took home a whole pizza leftover. The service was lacking. It didn't seem like the servers had their own designated sections, which made it hard to find our server when she was helping tables on the other side of the restaurant. But the pizza was great & this will be our new pizza spot in OC. Great location for before or after a movie too!

Bad service bad pizza bad wings open late It's been there a long time & have always meant to go back. I finally did in the summer of 2013. Some things are best left in the past (25 years ago). My memories of Ponzetti's were good. The experience and food of today = not good.

  • Paul L.

Good beach pizza. Sat in the bar area with family and had good fries and pizza. Cold beer. Need to get cheese whiz for the fries. Enjoyed the toppings; sausage and pepperoni. Waitress was very good. Only issue is that they raised the price of the pizza by 25 cents and did not change it on the menue. Large is 14.99 and 2.00 for toppings. Bill came and it was 17.24 before tax. Not a deal breaker but if you change the price please reflect it in the menu. We will return.

Good pie with fast service. One thing that didn't work was shredded mozzarella on the antipasto ,sorry boys provolone only.

  • Ed W.

As always - a total hit with everyone! I highly recommend the pepperoni and sweet peppers as toppings on a pie. Perfect crust, sauce just spicy enough, and I'd kill to know where they get their cheese from - not too greasy and incredibly delicious.

Best pizza in OC!! My family and I have to have it at least once during our annual summer vacation.

  • Katie W.

The sauce is really sweet, but I like it. The crust is thin and the pizzas are fresh. I get one every time I am in the area.

  • Brian C.

Absolutely love the pizza here!! We live in SC and a highlight of going to the OC is the fantastic pizza. We only get it with Pepperoni because that's all you need. The crust is light and crispy. I really wish we had Ponzetti's in SC. With that being said, time to plan a trip up north!

  • Katelyn S.

GREAT pizza. The guy who said the pizza was dessert-like was either on crack or sprinkled sugar on his pie. The sauce and crust are perfect. We had the Red Hot Chili Poppers (just a classic jalapeño popper, but well done), the Tomato Pie, the Vegetable Pizza, and the classic Cheese & Tomato. Make sure to ask whether the specialty pizzas have sauce - not all do. The spice blend is rockin'. Don't even bitter with Grotto or Dough Rollers. Great value, classic pizza.

  • Donna C.

The pizza was great. We ordered take-out and had the pizza with 4 toppings. The crust was crispy and the tomato sauce tasty. The tossed salad was just average but the house dressing delicious. Would definitely go back for more!

  • Pamela S.

I am back! Family favorite for many years. Decent food and prices in non pretentious atmosphere. Would suggest using fresh rather than dried basil to step up their game in a pizza- loving town. Btw who eats pizza with their hands? Use a fork and knife and get some manners.

  • Greg J.

Pizza was average drinks were weak and our server confused. It filled a need, we were really hungry after a long day and the pizza took care of the void. I really should just lower my expectations when in OC and accept 'unoffensive' as a win for a drinking and dining experience. Returned in 2015. Yep, Ponzettis is a model of consistency.

  • Ashley H.

Very thin pizza, pizza almost seemed watery because of the sauce and cheese. Tasted like i was only eating cheese. We were told the pizza just came out, and it wasn't hot at all. Waitress completely disappeared, never asked how the food was or if we wanted free refills. Another family near us complained about not seeing their waitress at all and they had a different waitress than us. Cheese fries weren't bad ha. Definitely don't recommend this place!!

Robbery Do NOT get anything outside of the Pizza. If I could give 0 stars I would. Just got a $14 chicken Parm dinner that was nothing short of a school lunch! 1 small chicken breast and 1 scoop of dining hall spaghetti. I mean seriously, this meal cost, maybe a $1.75 to make and tasted like it. Horrible and highway robbery.

Pizza is great! All they need to do is update the interior and 5 stars for them. Staff is very friendly! Have small arcade for the kids.

Pizza was pretty good-a little overdone. Salad at tables near us looked good. Restaurant needs to be updated.

Pretty blah italian spot. Nothing great nothing bad. Not terribly over or undet priced. Service is ok. Not 'As good as it gets' but not 'terrible'. The best part of the restaurant was when exiting I saw old pictures of former employees. I thought that was pretty cool.

  • Tom K.

I never give 5 stars but I had one of the best pizzas I've had in years. The dough was fresh and light. Plenty of cheese and pepperoni . I've bookmarked for the next time at OC.

Loved this place when I needed a pizza fix at the beach! Had the veggie and the boyfriend had pepperoni. Great pizza, nice service. Not some fancy pants place with artisan options, but all the more better for some simple, down-home and delicious pizza pies!

Sad to give Ponzetti's three stars. A family member lives near the restaurant and it's our go-to spot every time we go visit, at least a couple of times each summer. In 2012 we couldn't stop thinking about the pizza once we left and were excited to go back over Labor Day weekend 2013. I agree with one of the other reviews on here: Don't stray from the pizza menu. I had the "Big 6 oz Cheeseburger" and yeah, it felt like I was also eating a school lunch. I have nothing bad to say about the pizzas and that's really where I will continue to put my money in the future. The service this weekend (we visited twice in three days) was ehh. Hope they hire more servers, who are attentive and eager to work, for the Summer of 2014.

Very awesome! Was looking for awesome pizza in OC and this place delivered. The yelp directions had it on the opposite side of the highway which made for some confusion finding the place, but it was worth it for the food.

When my girlfriend and I had a serious pizza craving and were on the brink of culinary disaster this place came to the rescue. The pizza was delicious and exactly what I was looking for!

  • Jr F.

Ponzetti has surprisingly good pizza at an affordable price. I like they're pizza dough, and they have the right portions. It's a local's place, so you're not going to get that plastic, sterile OC treatment that every chain restaurant is going to give you. They're OC real, which I tended to appreciate.

  • Kelly J.

The pizza is great but the odor in the bar is enough to gag you. I have no idea where it is coming from but it's horrible. Went back a few nights later, for takeout, and it was even worse.

Great pizza! Maybe even the best in town. Thick crust, rich sauce, an all around great pizza. It definitely gets busy during peak season but any time you go you'll get good pizza.

Great restaurant. Not expensive, and both of my kids ate all of their dinners. Quiet atmosphere and friendly waitress.

Don't you hate returning to a childhood favorite restaurant with high expectations and leaving oh-so disappointed? I should have just left my childhood memories of being treated by mom and dad to a pizza dinner at Ponzetti's alone, because I pretty much ruined them with a single meal as an adult!! We live closer to the Route 90 bridge, so we usually get pizza from Johnny's or sometimes Lombardi's in the off-season... but I got a hankering for Ponzetti's one day and it wold not go away. So after a couple days of trying to ignore my cravings, I ventured up to Fenwick for some classic Ponzetti's pizza. The restaurant itself needs a serious facelift... the booth we were seated in had no light (but the hostess was mindful enough to ask us if we minded being seated at a booth with a broken light). We didn't have a choice... all of the booths left open had broken lights. We ordered a tomato pie (blend of cheeses, rounds of tomato, herbs and garlic) and my childhood memories of dinner at Ponzetti's were shattered at first bite... just like that. The cheese was odd, I can't explain it. The tomatoes were good, but there garlic was overpowering (this coming from someone who adores garlic). And most disappointingly, the crust was not crispy, but limp and soggy. I don't meet too many pizzas that I don't like, but I stuck to a single slice and called it a night. What a waste of money. I would have given Ponzetti's one star, but I know it's an Ocean City staple that has been around forever, and I am hoping that they were just having an off night. Unfortunately, I probably won't be back to see if that's true.

Every year i make it a point to go here because they have the best pizza anywhere including Philly and it surroundings clear down to Maryland. The staff is also super sweet. The orange crush and all other mixed drinks are undeniably good. This definitely upd hteroad a bit and a locals hang out but they are super chill.

This is now my favorite pizza place in the Delaware/OC area. I've always gone to Grotto's for my pizza but this place is a step ahead. One reason: the variety. They have "different" pizzas. What I mean by that is that they're more innovative than some other places in the area. I had the tomato pie, which is a normal cheese pizza with some spices and sliced tomato on top. It was incredible. I also had a bit of the green pepper pie that my parents got for themselves and it was great as well. The place is very old-fashioned and is full of history. I spent our 5 minutes waiting looking at all of the old pictures on the wall, very cool stuff. Although the place isn't the cleanest or visually pleasing of restaurants, the pizza is great and deserves 4 stars. Hope I get back to it again for some food!

Whoa! Hold your Horses, this aint no Spaghetti Western.... Ponzetti's is awesome. It is a distinctive pie for a discerning Pizza Pie audience, I am not sure who wrote the two negative reviews, but I assure you Ponzetti's can be great. Just the other day, the ol' Lady was coming home from Yoga, and she asked if I wanted some pie, I said yea, figuring she would grab some mini-mall crap. What a surprise when she busted through the door like Mario landing on a mushroom with a Ponzetti Pizza Pie in one hand and a bottle of Vino in the other. I was stoked and it was delicious. Now, I need to let you know, I live on the Shore, and have access to a million different types of Pie, and I almost never put a topping on it. I find the pure Pie, to be crust-sauce-cheese. In my opinion, most places funk up a pie, when you top it, sometimes I will put the Pepperoni on the Pie, but I almost always regret it. The Facts: Ponzetti's has a sweet sauce, almost like a candy, the Crust, is pastry like, light and airy, more a desert then a dinner. The Cheese-Cow Milk Mozzarella is disseminated on the crust, prior to the sauce, which BTW is delivered to the Pie via a hand pump for Sauce. Watching a hand made Ponzetti's Pizza Pie, can be half the fun. I write this review, ignoring subtle differences between the three different locations (Salisbury, Uptown and The Birds[called piezano's]) which I believe are owned by different families who all stay true to the Original Ponzetti formula. However, If you are a clown and your little clown brain, can't wrap your little clown taste buds around a Ponzetti's pie, stop going, i am positive then don't need your business, but think about what you write before you write it, Ponzetti's is Lip Smaking Good!

this is an update to last years review. The pizza was so darn good I have been craving it ever since I left the beach. This year the whole adult family went to the beach like we did as kids and I was bragging and ravign about ponzettis to my brother, brother in law etc. usually when someone builds something up so much the expectations are so high that people are usually let down. Well all I can say is that the family was raving over this pizza as much as I was. I almost want to go back to the beach just for more of Ponzetti's pizza. The decor is also really neat and nostalgic with oldtime photos of employees from 20-40 years ago. best pizza ever.

On our way out of town we overheard our friends say they were getting pizza from this joint ... "... And its always good." It aint The pizza is like from a pool ... Odd cheese with a bland sauce ... And the crust was pedestrian and moist Our stuffed shells were clearly frozen ... With freezer burn to boot Skip it ... Find a way to go to dough rollers or something

Ponzetti's Pizza has been serving the best Pizza and Subs in Ocean City since 1962. I used to eat at Ponzetti's on the boardwalk, and now that they've moved to North Ocean City, I go out of my way to go and eat there. Enjoy some Pizza any way you'd like it, or... enjoy some of their delicious Italian specialties like Veal Parmesan and Spaghetti and Meatballs. Besides their great menu, visit Ponzetti's and enjoy a cocktail or two, the kids have an arcade to play in, and stay for the live entertainment.

I used to love Ponzetti's just for their pizza alone. This summer, living up north, I had the opportunity to go there quite alot. I had to stop ordering the pizza because it was too greasy. So greasy that the bottom crust was even greasy. Every thing else I have ordered was great though and my son gives the chicken parm sub the thumbs up.
